The Red Line in Tel Aviv
The Red Line is a 24-km long LRT line, 12 km of which is underground. It is the backbone of the network of lines in the Tel Aviv metropolitan area and passes through five local authorities: Bat Yam, Tel Aviv, Ramat Gan, Bnei Brak and Petach Tikvah.
The line includes 24 stations on the ground level and 10 underground stations. Connections are planned with Israel Railways train stations and the Arlozorov bus terminal. Connections with future lines include the Purple and Green Light Rail Lines. Kiss-and-ride parking lots are planned at either end of the line.
Challenges in this project include crossing some of the most densely populated and central areas of the Dan region, planning an underground section that includes TBM stations and tunnels that are close to groundwater, placing launching shafts in densely populated urban areas, and the coordination of work with five local authorities
